Claire Lu

about me

Hi, I’m Claire! I recently graduated from MIT with my B.S. in May 2024 where I double-majored in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and Brain and Cognitive Sciences. I’m currently spending a fifth year at MIT to earn my Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, where I’ll be writing my thesis on research I’m doing with the Li Lab at the Whitehead Institute.

I really love thinking about intelligence – both how it’s encoded in our brains, and how it could be instilled in AI and robots. Additionally, I’m super excited about ways to integrate the brain with technology through brain-computer/machine interfaces, neuroengineering, or biomechatronics!

Professionally, I’ve been a software engineering intern at Databricks, Illumina, and YouTube. Through these summers, I’ve gained a lot of experience with data infrastructure engineering at various levels of abstraction. See my resume for more role-specific details.

On campus, I am a choreographer for MIT’s Asian Dance Team, and I had the pleasure to serve as Vice Chair for the 2024 Ring Committee, where I got to design and present my class ring!

In my free time, I like listening to music, reading/writing sci-fi, and exploring Boston. I also love designing and creating elegant things – drawings, installations, or even cards for my friends. I have documented some of my favorite creations in creative.

As always, email me if you’d like to talk about MIT, about the brain, about music or art or design – anything, really. Looking forward to hearing from you!
